About Alice Kirby BSc (Hons) Dip CBEd (CBI)

I'm a 31 year old hypnobirthing antenatal teacher, psychology and counselling graduate and birth pool retailer.

I've been working in the childbirth field for 10 years, and have one daughter (Maya's birth story).

From 2003-2006 I worked as a trainee midwife in Central London. Placements were completed in the community, on antenatal, postnatal, gynaecology and theatre wards, and on delivery suite where I supported over 100 couples during childbirth. I had the honour of helping to 'catch' 22 babies, including six waterbabies.

I then decided to move on from midwifery and work as an independent antenatal teacher, birth doula and hypnobirthing facilitator. I attained my Childbirth International diploma in Childbirth Education and completed antenatal teacher training with Janet Balaskas. I qualified as a doula in 2006.

I originally trained in hypnobirthing in 2006 with UK Natal Hypnotherapy™ founder Maggie Howell, and delivered her courses for two years. I have also worked as a 'HypnoBirthing - The Mongan Approach®' practitioner - a US-based course.

I'm often asked by husbands and birth partners if I offer hypnotherapy sessions to help them sleep better / stop smoking etc... So I am currently undertaking my Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD), which will enable me to expand my hypnotherapy practice in Cornwall and offer clinical hypnotherapy and NLP to the wider public in early 2013.

I have featured in Cornwall Today magazine and spoken on LBC 97.3 radio about childbirth issues. The Cornish Birth Group featured in the winter 2011 edition of Bump 2 Baby magazine. Please contact me with any media enquiries.
